「（雨などが）激しく降る」。

ここでは、sheetが「〜を覆う」→「激しく降る、流れる」として、動詞で使われています。

今日のメルボルンの天気は、まさにこんな状況。今週一週間は雨降りが続くとか。子どものエネルギーをどう発散させてあげようか、今から悩むところです。

ということで、おなじみ、Ideas in Foodのブログエントリー、 'Windy'から。

'The rain is sheeting down as we get ready to set sail. We're gearing up for another fun cruise with plenty of play time in the kitchen. It'll all be sunny tomorrow after a good night's sleep. Bon voyage.'

ちなみに、gear up for...は、「〜に向けて準備•体制を整える」。「それいくぞ」という勢いを表したいときに、よく使います。

seep into the mainstream

「主流に参入する」という意味。

このままマーケティング用語しても使えそうなフレーズです。

seep into...自体は、「〜に入り込む、しみ込む、浸透する」という意味。

文字通り使えば、Tons of oil seeps into the Gulf of Mexico every year.「毎年、何トンもの石油がメキシコ湾に流れ込んでいる」とか、ちょっと比喩的に使って、Her songs seeped into everyone's soul.「彼女の歌がみんなの心にしみ込んだ」とかね。 いろいろと応用できそうです。
