iffy

「不確かな、何とも言えない、問題ありの、あやしい」といったような意味の形容詞です。

接続詞のif「もし」から派生した単語で、ここでは、「不確かなもの」というように、名詞として使われています。

'Not only was he suspicious of the new, but he also turned against old favorites. Chicken thighs and legs were out, and even the breast meat was iffy unless it was coated in a sauce of some kind.'

最初のフレーズはこれ。意味は、「蓼食うものも好きずき、人の好みはそれぞれ」。

今日読んだ本のタイトルにもなっていました。　例文では、eyeが複数形になっています。
